Cost:
$9.00. This includes $4.00 for the car kit and $5.00 to race the car at the derby.
About The Program:
The pinewood derby is a racing event for the Boy's Club. With help from their club leaders, the boys build their own wooden cars using kits containing a block of pine, plastic wheels, screw axles, and dowel rod axle support. The boy's are excited to use their own hands to make their car with it's own unique shape and decorated to their liking.
When "raceday" arrives, excitement fills the air. Looking at all the other cars and watching them zip down the track is great time for everyone. Some are winners, some don't do so well. Whether you win or lose, we all have fun during this time.
Theme:
This year we will have the Lewis and Clark theme. 2 or 3 of our FCF (Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship) will be in period dress.
They will be displaying some 1800 style clothing, will be able to answer questions, and will talk about the great adventure Lewis and Clark embarked on.
Important Dates:
February 27 at 9:00 AM : Cut out cars
March 6 at 9:00 AM : Paint the cars
March 20 at 9:00 AM : The big race!
The Royal Rangers may use some Wednesdays to work on the cars as well so come to clubs so you don't miss this opportunity.
