Read Matthew 8:1-4 - Jesus Heals the Leper
 
When Jesus began His ministry, there were many people who were hurting, sick and lost and needed to know that God loved them and cared about their sick lives. They needed to know God’s healing touch and forgiveness; - a lot like people today! Our memory verse, Matthew 4:23 (look it up!) tells what Jesus spent His time doing. He was taking care of His people.
 
Jesus took care of people’s minds by teaching them what God was saying in the scriptures; He took care of their hearts and spirits by telling them the Good News of God’s Kingdom and giving them hope and forgiveness and He took care of their bodies by healing them from sickness and disease. Jesus took care of every part of His people.
 
As you read the encounter between Jesus and the man who was stricken with leprosy, note what Jesus’ reaction is when the man asks Him for help - what does it say about Jesus’ heart?
